APPLESAUCE

One of the first food I love for infants is applesauce, I believe it opens their mouth to a sweetness that makes them want more. Apart from baby food, applesauce is a versatile sauce to have at hand. You can add it to your baking, yoghurt, milk or cereal makes a nice dip for fruits too.

Applesauce can only stay 3 days in the fridge and more than a month in the freezer. I always freeze ours in an ice cube tray. This recipe is baby food but if you are making it for kids above 10 months you can add lemon peel and lemon juice.

Play around applesauce for your infant by adding it to their cereals like this Oatmeal cereal and veggie meal, you can add natural peanut butter or peanut powder to the applesauce to make it a snack for infant and older kids. INGREDIENTS

  • 1 big red apple
  • 1/3 cup of water

METHOD

  1. Wash, peel and dice the apple
  2. Add water to it and bring to boil on a medium heat
  3. Cook till soft
  4. Let it cool down and blend or mash.
